First Lights - Bunggaliyarra Munggu

Fremantle Biennale in collaboration with Juluwarlu Art Group

8pm-8.45pm
Beach parking permitted from 5.30pm-6.50pm (parking ticket required)

Minkala, the Great Spirit, lifted the Mayalarri (seven sisters) into the sparkling night sky. Then came Marrga, singing the Burndud (sacred song). Their voices were so powerful that two of the Mayalarri were drawn down from the sky, into the sea near Murujuga. They were the Bunggaliyarra. This story celebrates the Bunggaliyarra Munggu journey through a spectacular narrated drone light and sound experience at Hearson’s Cove, the site where the Seven Sisters storyline begins.

Presented by the Fremantle Biennale with the Juluwarlu Art Group and supported by the City of Karratha.

Free event, booking required.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Parking at Hearson Cove will be ticketed and strictly limited to 4WD vehicles and checked on entry. Due to safety concerns and impacts to heritage sites, parking on roadside curb along Hearson Cove Road will not be allowed.

Ticketholders are encouraged to car-pool or take the courtesy bus as parking spaces are limited for safety purposes.

If you plan on driving to the show, you MUST secure a beach parking ticket for your vehicle. One beach parking ticket is required per vehicle. Vehicle parking is permitted from 5.30pm-6.50pm and late entry will not be permitted. Vehicles will not be permitted to leave until the end of the show or in case of emergency.

Alternatively, a free bus service from Karratha and Dampier is also available for those who are unable to drive or secure a 4WD beach parking ticket.  A bus ticket is required for each individual.

For example, a family of four traveling together will require 4 show tickets + 1 beach parking ticket or 4 show tickets + 4 bus tickets.
