Yinjaa-Barni Art
48 Roe Street Roebourne
Monday - Friday, 9am - 4pm.
Yinjaa-Barni Art is a collective of Aboriginal artists who predominantly belong to the Yindjibarndi language group and whose ancestral homelands surround the Fortescue River and Millstream Tablelands.
Based in Roebourne, a small town in Western Australia’s Pilbara region of the north-west of the state, the Yinjaa-Barni artists create deeply personal works of collective memory, rendering the wildflowers, river systems and landforms of their country onto canvas. Yinjaa-barni means ‘staying together’ in the Yindjibarndi language and the artists have been painting as a collective since 2006.
Yinjaa-Barni Art is a not-for-profit Aboriginal Corporation governed by an Aboriginal board of directors and run by an executive manager.”
The gallery houses many beautiful paintings completed by the Yinjaa-Barni artists. The working studio at the back of the art centre will be open for visitors to come and see the artists at work, have a yarn or a cuppa.
