Yinjaa-Barni Art is a collective of Aboriginal artists who predominantly belong to the Yindjibarndi language group and whose ancestral homelands surround the Fortescue River and Millstream Tablelands. The YBA artists have exhibited both national and internationally and are represented in a number of public and private art collections. They have also won numerous awards amongst them.
For the senior members of the group, art is an important means of expressing and relaying love for their Country, their culture, and the flora of the region. YBA artists’ paintings tell stories of country and their connection to place. The artists love to yarn with the public and pass on their cultural knowledge.
Over the course of the event YBA artists will take turns painting on site and provide the opportunity for the public to yarn and ask questions about their culture and practice.
