VARIOUS YOUNG ARTISTS
 
A fresh exploration of youthful growth and contemplative creativity featuring emerging artists  Sage Casey, Indee Iris, Simona Krstic, Ryan Naga and Sofi Twaddle.  This showcase encompasses blossoming vitality in many expressive forms, including graphite on paper, ceramics, graphic design and painting. An exciting collection of highly resolved bodies of work, Bloom gifts the viewer an insight into the imaginative processes of young people during the very complex world and times in which we live. In their commitment to artistic development, each artwork encapsulates youthful investigation into a range of subjects from the ubiquitous, the significant and the self, resulting in tangible records of resilience and sustained growth.
 
Viewers can expect a feast for their eyes whilst we witness these young artists Bloom.

Barefaced Stories: Karratha Rendition

Perth’s most popular storytelling series lands in Karratha for one massive night of true tales in the magnificent Red Earth Arts Precinct.

Barefaced Stories is an evening of live storytelling featuring real people telling real stories. From lawyers to bus-drivers, mums to pro-wrestlers – each person takes to the stage armed only with a true-life tale – some humorous, some sad, some downright perverse!

This exclusive Karratha edition will feature a line-up of interesting locals.

Slapstix

PERTH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
 
Combining traditional instruments and ‘found percussion’, this outdoor community performance by percussionists from Perth Symphony Orchestra brings unexpected musical twists and turns for the whole family! Young musicians from the local community will feature in this energetic and rhythmic journey, showcasing skills they have developed in workshops with PSO’s leading percussionists over the preceding days. This performance is delivered as part of the Karratha New Music Development Partnership with Perth Symphony Orchestra.

Youth Artist In Residence

RYAN NAGA
 
We're proud to introduce Perth-based Malaysian Chinese visual artist Ryan Naga as our Youth Artist in Residence. Ryan is trained in Western art, Chinese calligraphy and Chinese traditional brush painting.  He works primarily in graphite on paper. Ryan will work in a pop-up art studio at Karratha City Shopping Centre during his two weeks in Karratha. His studio will be open to public in the afternoon and he invites you in to find out more about his work. He's also planning to present daily urban sketching workshops.  Ryan's work will feature in the REAF exhibition Bloom - Emerging Beauty.

Youth Artist In Residence

KARRAK GREGORY
 
Wickham will host Youth Artist in Residence Karrak Gregory from Bunbury who is into acting, film and music production. During his residency he aims to digitally produce a set of songs which he will then perform as DJ at The HeART. He is keen to talk to other young musicians while here, so make sure you check in to his studio during opening hours.

Circus Feast Workshop for Kids

Hey! There’s a FREE Kids Circus Class coming to you! Come down to Dampier Community Hall for some acrobatic fuelled fun this is an opportunity you don’t want to miss. Theatre Kimberley Broome’s own Internationally-touring performers are travelling to the Pilbara with an after-school class just for ages 7-12. Acrobatics, hand balancing, hula hoops, games, and all things circus, this class is perfect for any beginner, and can be advanced enough to upskill those who want to work on something special.

Star Down Under

IF FOUNDATION

Schools are invited to join IF Foundation Peer Actorvists as they deliver theatrical presentations which directly address social issues which are honest, real, and relevant to students.  Developed BY teens and tweens FOR teens and tweens, each performance includes IN-CHARACTER facilitated discussions in which students speak directly to the characters to ask questions to understand the characters’ situation, gain knowledge, offer their own ideas and solution, and be advised of resources available within the City of Karratha.
 
This project is a collaboration with IF Foundation, STAR Theatre for Social Change NYC, and Headspace Pilbara. Sessions are available for up to 30 participants and are appropriate for students in Year 5 through 12. Sessions can be catered to the age and needs of your students. Available topics include Bullying, Mental Health, Crushes, Consent, School Pressures, and LGBTQIA+. Excursion booking requests will be on a first come first serve basis. 
 
This project is a collaboration with IF Foundation, STAR Theatre for Social Change NYC and Headspace Pilbara.
